The owner expressed to us his profound love for his home:
“When I first viewed the property, I was struck by the uninterrupted view
looking down to the airport, ocean, and surrounding islands, St. Maarten, St. Barts, and Anguilla
from a cozy traditional Saba cottage nestled in the hillside.
I felt this view could be enhanced by adding a deck to the property. This was done within a year, and many evenings have been spent on that deck with wine, beer, and friends. It is also a great place to have a coffee in the morning as the sun rises or to laze on the built-in bench in the afternoon and
watch the last flight come in. Watching the passing cruise ships or observing the ocean and
cloud formations became a soothing pastime.
The deck also gives a superb view of New Year’s Eve fireworks displays on the aforementioned islands and, as a special treat, the Saba displays at the airport.
I love the warm breeze on that side of the island. No moldy-smelling clothes!
The garden is manageable and presents the opportunity to build a more secluded outdoor living area on the concrete slab adjoining the bedroom/bathroom side. This was my plan had I stayed on Saba.
Saba was (and is) a very special place for me from day one. The welcoming hospitality of the islanders, combined with the stunning scenery, made it a place that I consider home.
Owning a property there has been a privilege I have never taken lightly.”
