We will never forget the first time we landed on Saba. We both knew, immediately, that we had to spend the rest of our lives enjoying the serene beauty of the island.
We’ve both traveled extensively during our lives but had never encountered such peace, natural beauty or the welcoming way of life
Saba hands you.
We’ve worked to connect with Saba — renovating a home and a cottage, meeting new people and widening our circle of friends both personally and professionally. It has been a truly rewarding time which has given us a better understanding of what Saba is about.
We are now starting a new phase of our life on Saba. We hope to share our wonderful experiences, our business and professional expertise with the Saban community as well as with newcomers who arrive, fall in love as we did and decide to make Saba their home.
This is why we created SABA Island Properties — A Dynamic New Approach to Caribbean Real Estate here on the island of Saba.
As expats with lots of experience please let us help you make Saba your home as well!
They say that first impressions are lasting. Well… they absolutely are
Our first opinions of Saba are the same since 2011 when we moved here permanently. They haven’t changed one bit… only gotten better.
- We weren’t fooled.
- We haven’t become disillusioned.
- We haven’t been discouraged by any of the challenges we have met.
- Our love for the island has grown into deeper comfort, pleasure and happiness.
- Saba is more beautiful to us today than ever and we feel even more gratitude and more love to be able to live here.
Somehow the universe guided our paths here. We must have done something good in our lives to have landed here. Now we intend to return the favor and continue to care for the island, our friends, other people and future visitors.
Here’s what we wrote on Christmas day
“We had a SENSATIONAL time on Saba! Our hopes were fully met in visiting this beautiful island and finding a warm, comfortable, friendly place where we could live during the winter months.
The people we’ve met welcomed us into their homes and lives. They care about us and our future here on Saba. We saw cottages and magnificent homes, surprising us with the unique and ‘unspoiled’ beauty of Saba. People are generous. It is a highly unusual welcoming.
We researched locations all over the world in which to live. We liked the Caribbean because it was close to our home in New York and also France. Saba is 15 minutes away by plane after landing in St. Martin.
Things we love about the small, English speaking island of Saba:
– The rugged, physical beauty of the land — spectacular, dramatic views and lush green plant life
– Cool, refreshing, easterly winds and temperatures in the 80’s
– Sparkling sunny days — even when it rains it’s still wonderful
– Nice, friendly people who genuinely care about their heritage and homes, making you feel sincerely welcome
– Saba is not overcrowded by tourists and you have a real sense of community — a simple and sophisticated lifestyle open to all people
– Delicious cuisine – with both local and international flavors and a variety of restaurants
– The pristine ‘organic garden’, the rainforest, hiking and world renowned scuba diving
– Safety — a solid sense of security, freedom and privacy
– The acceptance by local Sabans of us as foreign people in their surroundings
– You can be part of the nightlife or simply enjoy a low key living experience
– Full island Wi-Fi internet and US standard 110 volt electrical current
– Abundance of fresh produce, fish, meat, groceries and specialty items for all your shopping and gourmet needs
We know we use a lot of adjectives and high powered words to describe our ‘Saba Experience’ but… when you find a place on earth that makes you feel so utterly happy, that has everything you were looking for, the only way to describe it is to tell the truth, give the facts and gush with sincere, unfettered joy.
Saba is perfect! Truly — a piece of paradise. Our dream came true as we make it our new home.”
