What’s Your Opinion of Real Estate Agents? – Albert & Michael – Saba Island Properties

What's Your Opinion of Real Estate Agents? - Albert & Michael - Saba Island Properties

We did a survey asking what people think about real estate agents and here is some of what they said:
‘Unfeeling… a necessary evil… pushy salespeople… uninformed on the properties they show… they only want your money… insincere… lazy… don’t trust them.’
Not very positive for such a prosaic industry. Why is that? It’s not the nature of the business because working in real estate is a useful trade. Helping other people find a home is gratifying work. Buying, selling, and renting properties takes care and empathy. That’s the approach we take. It’s what’s in your heart that we want to find out. Most agents don’t think this way.
Here are some of the questions we (Albert + Michael) talk about in our work at Saba Island Properties:
– How can you have real feelings for people who come to you to buy, sell, or rent property?
– How willing are you to go beyond the listing and be sincerely interested in the person and their needs? Interested in their home or piece of land? Interested in how they feel and what they want and need?
– Sometimes, a person has to sell their home. What does that mean to us as agents? How much compassion will you have for them?
– What do you owe people when they email, call, or visit you to ask questions about buying, selling, or living on Saba? How far are you willing to go to help them?
Your emotions and the truth are not excluded when selling or buying real estate. It’s not all business.
At Saba Island Properties we tell you the truth, giving you the facts and answers you need. That’s our promise—quality service and professionalism are essential to us.
As the only expat real estate company on Saba, we have lived through the process of buying land on Saba, renovating a home, moving here, opening a business, and everything else involved with living on Saba. That’s a massive part of the value we offer you.
We’re growing *our brand* by servicing people with natural care.
You’re more than just a listing to us.
More than a prospect looking to buy or sell a house or piece of land.
More than statistics on a page with a number of rooms, acreage, and views.
More than a price and a few pictures.
We work hard to go beyond the surface and to put ourselves in your shoes. Understanding what you’re going after also includes knowing your doubts and fears.
Howard Schultz – CEO of Starbucks — describes well our purpose in running Saba Island Properties:
“… in this ever-changing society, the most powerful and enduring brands are built from the heart. They are real and sustainable. Their foundations are stronger because they are built with the strength of the human spirit, not an ad campaign. The companies that are lasting are those that are authentic.”
We’re here to serve you because that’s what you expect and deserve. It’s the soul of our business.
We’re building business, not just for the immediate sale but for the future because when you can recommend us or choose to return and work with us again, we’re hopeful and confident that you will because of the trust and quality of our work and our reputation.

Why Saba?

After 40+ years in New York City, I leaped out of the rat race of corporate America, leaving behind the stress and competition that was wasting me, to rediscover what really matters.

We searched the world for a new home — the Azores, the Maldives, France, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Malta, the Caribbean — and by pure luck, found Saba.

Saba gives me peace, joy, freedom, and a community where I belong. People here live free and open, respected, in the heart of deep nature and incredible beauty. It changed everything.

The work we do lets us care about people — helping them find a home with real empathy for their needs and dreams. It's an emotional investment: to listen, to understand. Work that matters. Work we're proud of.

Maybe you have that same yearning. For a better way to live. A place where you feel at home with yourself and the world.

Maybe you're looking for a vacation spot — unique, unknown, crowd-less, safe, friendly. Hello, Saba.

Maybe you're already hooked — booking your favorite room, renting your favorite cottage or villa, coming back year after year.

Or maybe Saba has you dreaming bigger — a lasting, personal connection to this exclusive island. A home that's yours.

Email me, and let's find out exactly what you're looking for. Let's turn those thoughts and wishes into reality.

I look forward to saying, one day: "Welcome home." Be it for a week, or a lifetime.
