Ecolodge Rendez-Vous — resort and restaurant — will be preserved and upgraded by its new owners, honoring its unique environmental purpose while aiming to make Saba a world class eco-tourism destination.

  • The sale gives people new hope about the future of this significant property.
  • It benefits Saba and the world.
  • It shows people are making new choices to live here and develop.
  • Saba is becoming better known.
Saba is growing and changing. It’s something to celebrate!

This landmark resort will continue

When we showed Ecolodge to the new owners they instantly connected with it. They saw its value, respected its meaning and fell in love with its possibilities. What a satisfying feeling to see people creating, imagining, eagerly planning and looking forward to promoting Ecolodge — building greater awareness about Saba — attracting new tourism to Saba throughout the Caribbean and around the world. It’s the owners love for Ecolodge that matters most. They intend to keep the eco-friendly concept of Ecolodge Rendez-Vous intact while adding comfort and style to the 12 individual cottages and restaurant. Sounds good, right?

Ecolodge has survived

Many people have been immensely helpful volunteering time and contributing money so this vital island attraction will survive. There has always been loving work poured into this beautiful property from the moment it was first conceived, to its building and opening and operation over the years.

The spirit of Ecolodge has lived through many successes and challenges and with new owners on board its significance will continue to thrive.

Lots of real plans to refurbish the buildings and restaurant are in process. The ideas are substantial with solid business and life skills about ecology, organic farming and nature preservation.

It’s exciting to think how Ecolodge will evolve and flourish further and perhaps become more itself — all it was meant to be.

We’re confident the future of Ecolodge is a positive one without limits, with new life and new direction.

It’s a special and beautiful resort

5 years ago we first saw Ecolodge and were filled with wonder at the location, purpose and… the delicious food. We’ve always marveled at the place, just like many tourists and guests who have experienced its magic.

So when we were asked to help sell Ecolodge we naturally dived right in researching the property, talking to people, studying ecology and learning all we could about Eco Lodges around the world. It was remarkable for us to discover the story and history of this lovely resort on the edge of the rainforest of Saba.

We had the good fortunate to speak directly with conservationist Tom van’t Hof as well as local artist Heleen Cornet, who were both creators of Ecolodge. It was exciting and emotional to visit the property and learn first-hand what it is all about when it began some 12 years ago.
Tom told us this:

“The area has always been known as rendez-vous supposedly because this is where people would gather in case of a hurricane or calamity… The original concept was to offer off the grid access where guests would sacrifice a bit of comfort for close proximity with nature… At Ecolodge you see people enjoying themselves, they are happy and this is the most rewarding experience you can have as an owner. I hope the new owners will give it the constant attention and work it needs and above all, love.”

Finding the right people and place

One of things we’re proudest of in selling Ecolodge was finding the right people who understood its value and founding principles. It’s one of the biggest goals we hope to accomplish in our work and when we succeed… it makes for tremendous personal and professional gratitude.

We believe there is a right person for every property we represent, that there’s a specific piece of land or a home that calls out to a perspective buyer or renter looking to live the quality of life existing here on Saba and, which we think, surpasses most places on earth.

Saba, with its mystical rain forest and many hiking trails and world class deep sea diving, is the perfect setting for an upscale Ecolodge, committed to conservation, cultural sensitivity and isolation with the addition of comfort and style.

We have quite an amazing, wonderful and rewarding job helping people find a home they love.

That’s what happened at Ecolodge. That’s why the sale is important.

Connecting with the right person is crucial when looking to buy, sell or renovate a property because… this is your home.

Finding the perfect location, where you’ll be totally comfortable, is my ultimate goal for you.

My years of experience with Real Estate and Interior Design, will help guide you toward that positive result -- be it a traditional Saban cottage - an impressive estate - a gorgeous piece of land or... investing in a business here on Saba.

We’ll find exactly what works for you; examine all the parameters of your future home, and I’ll do my utmost to put the pieces of the puzzle together for you.

Discovering the island of Saba was the change I was searching for. A change of lifestyle. Leaving the ridiculous, debilitating fast pace of New York City and financial stress behind.

I came to Saba to retire but soon learned that I was too active to sit around and had too much life knowledge and experience not to give back to other people. My work in real estate enables me to do that and much more -- helping people live will, here on Saba.

My specialties are residential work -- interior planning – contracting -- purchasing furnishings, materials and all other resources -- adept at space planning -- keen ability with color selection -- highly capable of working with every media and in a variety of styles.

Creativity and staying on budget are real priorities for me. Pulling it all together and making it easy for you, is what I do best. From Bermuda to France, throughout the United States; working with CEO’s of top global businesses, recent college grads, newlyweds. I’m here to make you feel completely at home.

Come to Saba. We’ll have fun making your wishes and plans a reality!

*I'm a graduate of Parsons School of Design and I was -- Corporate Senior Vice President of Interior Design for W & J Sloane and -- Corporate Design Director for the Bloomindale's stores. Then I opened my own company -- Pensis - Stolz Inc. / KPS -- at The Design Center in New York City for over 35 years. What stories I have for you!

I worked with Givenchy - Leona Helmsley - the Chairman of Sony and The Museum Tower Apartment - The Four Seasons Hotels - Johnson & Johnson - Gloria Vanderbilt and more.

I was fortunate to have designed for the Vanderbilt show houses -- Kips Bay -- The Woolworth Estate -- The Gould Mansion -- The Gimble Estate -- The Gold Coast of Long Island -- the King of Saudi Arabia -- Mrs. Nat King Cole.

Everything from private train cars - planes - yachts - lobbies - and the joining together, designing and completely redecorating (from top to bottom) a double, four story town house in NYC. Wild and wonderful projects! I'm also proud to say I was a regular contributor to the New York Times.

I'm still working with private clients throughout the world and I absolutely love my work in real estate. I had no idea the people we would meet when we opened Saba Island Properties or the friendships we have made. We're connected all around the world. That's exciting, amazing and profoundly gratifying to me.
