“Sailing from St. Barth to Saba, we had the privilege to meet Wayne Peterson,
who gave us an unforgettable tour around the island.That was the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
We were seduced by the island’s unique atmosphere, the gentleness of the people,
the delicious temperature of the mountain, and the differences from the busy, crowded St. Barth,
just a few miles away! All that brought us the desire to buy a property where the quality of soil, so fertile,
would allow me to grow banana trees, vegetables, enjoy some sheep, chicken, and so on…
With the help of Wayne, who became a special friend, we met Albert & Michael,
owners of Saba Island Properties, and the dream came to reality with the buying of the land
in this magical part of the island, 500 meters high, next to The Sandy Cruz Trail.
In 2015, my wife and I enjoyed our first Christmas in our new house – sitting on the veranda at sunset, sipping a glass of wine. We could see the slow transformation of the mountain above us,
being covered little by little with a veil of gentle fog. This romantic moment reminded us of our trip to Panama, where the people called the mist ‘Neblina.’ So – we decided to call our home ‘Neblina Cottage.’
Each day, as the sun came up, it revealed the astonishing view of the ocean and its surroundings.
We are so pleased by the flight of the blue pigeons and the whistle of the chicken hawk and
amused to see the planes arriving far below, almost ready to land.
The house is at the end of the road, which preserves the calm and peace we desire.
Shopping and doing business in Windwardside, we appreciate the friendly people and unique ways of life
of the Saban people, a mixture of openness, respect for others, and dignity.
We wish the new owners of  ‘La Neblina Cottage’ to take advantage of the lovely piece of land and develop farming like it was a few years ago and enjoy our house as much as we have.”
