The owners shared treasured history and many emotional memories with us:
“As the Saba song says – the home was… ‘Built by our father’s hands.’
Seven of us were raised in the house with much love, and there was always local food on the stove from our mother,
who fed people whenever they were hungry.
It was called Center Point – a place where everyone stopped, yelled out ‘Wooi’ either when walking or driving by.
Grocery items were shared with neighbors – tools were sharpened for woodworking – local homegrown vegetables were sold
as well as our mother Marguerite’s handmade Saba lacework and famous Saba Spice,
which was well known by tourists all over the USA and the world! It was a center of activity, bustling with life and everyone was welcome.
Mornings were a favorite time – waking up to see the view of Mount Scenery, the ocean, hearing Winair planes land,
and times when you spotted a water funnel or saw ships close by the shore checking out our 5-mile rock.
Our family ancestors built the island, and our dad told stories of the people and culture, making the roads,
our magnificent views, the one-of-a-kind Saba landings, fresh fish, veggies, and fruit.
Our great grandparents lived just across the road in the area called ‘The Fort,’
our mother’s brother and family next to them and her sister directly behind us.
We hope that our family home becomes the new owners Center Point – bustling with people and activity,
lots of home-cooked local foods on the stove and always Welcoming!”
