First Impressions of Saba Are Lasting – Albert & Michael – Saba Island Properties

Saba Hillside English Quarter

We will never forget the first time we landed on Saba. We both knew, immediately, that we had to spend the rest of our lives enjoying the serene beauty of the island.

We’ve both traveled extensively during our lives but had never encountered such peace, natural beauty or the welcoming way of life
Saba hands you.

We’ve worked to connect with Saba — renovating a home and a cottage, meeting new people and widening our circle of friends both personally and professionally. It has been a truly rewarding time which has given us a better understanding of what Saba is about.

We are now starting a new phase of our life on Saba. We hope to share our wonderful experiences, our business and professional expertise with the Saban community as well as with newcomers who arrive, fall in love as we did and decide to make Saba their home.

This is why we created SABA Island Properties A Dynamic New Approach to Caribbean Real Estate here on the island of Saba.

As expats with lots of experience please let us help you make Saba your home as well!

They say that first impressions are lasting. Well… they absolutely are

Our first opinions of Saba are the same since 2011 when we moved here permanently. They haven’t changed one bit… only gotten better.

  • We weren’t fooled.
  • We haven’t become disillusioned.
  • We haven’t been discouraged by any of the challenges we have met.
  • Our love for the island has grown into deeper comfort, pleasure and happiness.
  • Saba is more beautiful to us today than ever and we feel even more gratitude and more love to be able to live here.

Somehow the universe guided our paths here. We must have done something good in our lives to have landed here. Now we intend to return the favor and continue to care for the island, our friends, other people and future visitors.

Here’s what we wrote on Christmas day

“We had a SENSATIONAL time on Saba! Our hopes were fully met in visiting this beautiful island and finding a warm, comfortable, friendly place where we could live during the winter months.

The people we’ve met welcomed us into their homes and lives. They care about us and our future here on Saba. We saw cottages and magnificent homes, surprising us with the unique and ‘unspoiled’ beauty of Saba. People are generous. It is a highly unusual welcoming.

We researched locations all over the world in which to live. We liked the Caribbean because it was close to our home in New York and also France. Saba is 15 minutes away by plane after landing in St. Martin.

Things we love about the small, English speaking island of Saba:

– The rugged, physical beauty of the land — spectacular, dramatic views and lush green plant life

– Cool, refreshing, easterly winds and temperatures in the 80’s

– Sparkling sunny days — even when it rains it’s still wonderful

– Nice,  friendly people who genuinely care about their heritage and homes, making you feel sincerely welcome

– Saba is not overcrowded by tourists and you have a real sense of community — a simple and sophisticated lifestyle open to all people

– Delicious cuisine – with both local and international flavors and a variety of restaurants

– The pristine ‘organic garden’, the rainforest, hiking and world renowned scuba diving

– Safety — a solid sense of security, freedom and privacy

– The acceptance by local Sabans of us as foreign people in their surroundings

– You can be part of the nightlife or simply enjoy a low key living experience

– Full island Wi-Fi internet and US standard 110 volt electrical current

– Abundance of fresh produce, fish, meat, groceries and specialty items for all your shopping and gourmet needs

We know we use a lot of adjectives and high powered words to describe our ‘Saba Experience’ but… when you find a place on earth that makes you feel so utterly happy, that has everything you were looking for, the only way to describe it is to tell the truth, give the facts and gush with sincere, unfettered joy.

Saba is perfect! Truly — a piece of paradise. Our dream came true as we make it our new home.”

Albert Pensis

Connecting with the right person is crucial when looking to buy, sell or renovate a property because… this is your home.

Finding the perfect location, where you’ll be totally comfortable, is my ultimate goal for you.

My years of experience with Real Estate and Interior Design, will help guide you toward that positive result - be it a traditional Saban cottage - an impressive estate - a gorgeous piece of land or... investing in a business here on Saba.

We’ll find exactly what works for you; examine all the parameters of your future home, and I’ll do my utmost to put the pieces of the puzzle together for you.

Discovering the island of Saba was the change I was searching for. A change of lifestyle. Leaving the ridiculous, debilitating fast pace of New York City and financial stress behind.

I came to Saba to retire but soon learned that I was too active to sit around and had too much life knowledge and experience not to give back to other people. My work in real estate enables me to do that and much more - helping people live well, here on Saba.

My specialties are residential work - interior planning – contracting - purchasing furnishings, materials and all other resources - adept at space planning - keen ability with color selection - highly capable of working with every media and in a variety of styles.

Creativity and staying on budget are real priorities for me. Pulling it all together and making it easy for you, is what I do best. From Bermuda to France, throughout the United States; working with CEOs' of top global businesses, recent college grads, newlyweds. I’m here to make you feel completely at home.

Come to Saba. We’ll have fun making your wishes and plans a reality!

*I'm a graduate of Parsons School of Design and I was - Corporate Senior Vice President of Interior Design for W & J Sloane and - Corporate Design Director for the Bloomindale's stores. Then I opened my own company -- Pensis - Stolz Inc. / KPS - at The Design Center in New York City for over 35 years. What stories I have for you!

I worked with Givenchy - Leona Helmsley - the Chairman of Sony and The Museum Tower Apartment - The Four Seasons Hotels - Johnson & Johnson - Gloria Vanderbilt and more.

I was fortunate to have designed for the Vanderbilt show houses - Kips Bay - The Woolworth Estate - The Gould Mansion - The Gimble Estate -The Gold Coast of Long Island - the Scarsdale Country Club - The Weis Center for the Performing Arts at Bucknell University - the King of Saudi Arabia - Mrs. Nat King Cole.

Everything from private train cars - planes - yachts - lobbies - and the joining together, designing and completely redecorating (from top to bottom) a double, four story townhouse in NYC. Wild and wonderful projects! I'm also proud to say I was a weekly contributor to the New York Times for many years.

I'm still working with private clients throughout the world and I absolutely love my work in real estate. I had no idea the people we would meet when we opened Saba Island Properties or the friendships we have made. We're connected all around the world. That's exciting, amazing and profoundly gratifying to me.
